ABOUT MOLLY

Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, I come from deep Southern roots. An appreciation for sweet tea, SEC football (War Eagle!), and the liberal use of “y’all” come standard.

I received my bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Auburn University in May 2012. During my time on The Plains, I worked as a staff writer for The Auburn Plainsman, our campus newspaper. Alongside my writing courses, I fell in love with photography and print/digital page design, the creative foundations that still shape how I approach storytelling and content strategy today.

Shortly after graduation, I married my husband, Ben, and we settled in Dallas, Texas. In the Lone Star State, I began working for Southwest Airlines as a technical writer, diving into writing, editing, and publishing procedures manuals and company documents. I discovered a deep appreciation for the precision and clarity of technical writing, and my time with the Central Publications department opened my eyes to a whole new world of writing and just how fun a great company culture can be.

In Dallas, I also stretched my creative writing and journalism muscles through freelancing, with news and features work in The Dallas Morning News and People Newspapers. I also dipped my toes into social media management for several real estate agents at Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty.

When Ben began work as an air traffic controller in 2015, we moved to Champaign, Illinois. I continued my work with Southwest as an Aircraft Librarian at Chicago’s Midway International Airport, where I managed publication inventories, audited aircraft for correct documents, addressed discrepancies, and maintained a custom audit database system. As the first Aircraft Librarian, I built the framework for what is a multi-librarian, nationwide team today.

Today, Ben and I live in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by dear friends and family and enjoying the city’s vibrant food and arts scene. I currently serve as a Senior Editor at Coursera, where I work on strategic SEO-driven marketing content initiatives that connect learners around the world with transformative educational opportunities. I enjoy shaping content strategy, mentoring writers, and ensuring our work is both grounded in facts and genuinely helpful for our readers. Since joining Coursera, I've also earned my Masters of Science in Management from the University of Illinois, with a focus on impactful leadership and team building.

At home, our greatest adventures revolve around our two children, Robin and Caroline, who keep life joyful, loud, and full of imagination. When I’m not at the keyboard, you’ll likely find me exploring a local park, planning our next trip, or simply soaking up time with my friends and family.

I hope you’ve enjoyed getting to know a bit about me. Please feel free to reach out with business opportunities or freelance inquiries. I’d love to help with your writing, editing, or content strategy needs!
